Christmas Train

One of the things I love most about being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is getting together with other Demonstrators. This weekend there's a bunch of us going away on "The Inklings" Team weekend. It should be so much fun - a weekend away of uninterrupted craft and good conversation to go along with it.

We all like to share ideas, so one of the things we're doing is swapping cards. This is the one I've designed for the swap. It uses the new "Choo Choo" stamp set that's in the Spring Mini Catalogue, but combined with a few Christmas stamps to give it a festive feel! The piece of stripey paper down the bottom of the card is from "Ski Slope", which could be my all time favourite Designer Series Paper - it's also in the Spring Mini. (It could also just be that's it's my favourite at the moment because it's new - only time will tell, I guess!)

So, I'm off for a weekend of stamping and scrapbooking - what does your weekend hold for you?

Just a Card

Finally, after all the boxes, bags, scrapbooking and other stuff I've been doing and posting recently, here's a card. Just a card. A sweet little card made using the "Window Dressing" hostess set, and one of my favourite colour combinations: blue, pink and brown. Hope you're having a lovely Sunday afternoon!

Gum Blossom Baby

One of the new stamp sets in the Stampin' Up! 2009/10 Idea Book and Catalogue is the gorgeous set "Bloom Away", which has beautiful images of some Australian native flowers. As I was colouring a Gum Blossom image last night, it reminded me of the May Gibbs "Gum Blossom Babies" illustrations, so I thought I'd try to create my own stamped version!

It involved some masking, and using markers direct to the stamps just to ink up the part of the image that I wanted. I used Close to Cocoa, Rose Red and Sage Shadow, with some Chocolate Chip thrown in there as well. Next post I'll show you a card that just uses the standard Gum Blossom image from the set so that you can compare the two!

I was pretty pleased with it - not sure what May Gibbs would think, though!
