What's in the tin?

A few days ago I posted about a card which was heading overseas as part of a gift. The card was one of the things packed inside this tin, which is a Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit tin. I loved the way the card size fitted perfectly into the window of the tin, because it meant that I could just do some simple rub-ons and Sticky Cuts on the front of the tin as decoration rather than needing to decorate or cover the whole thing.

There were some treats packed inside the tin, but it was also the perfect size to hold some 6 x 6 scrapbook pages. 6 x 6 is a fun size to work with, because you can complete a page fairly quickly,which is great for a procrastinating scrapbooker like me, who normally takes forever to get anything finished!

So here's one of the pages that was inside... my 2 year old demonstrating her "cranky face"!

Happy Hearts

I'm trying to do quite a bit of scrapbooking at the moment, and I wish I could say that I was getting up to date, but scrapbook-able events just keep happening!

This page is for Felicity's album. She's about to turn 4, so obviously I'm still behind! In one way it's good that I waited, though, because it meant that I could use the "A Happy Heart" stamp set and the Ruby Red paper from Ginger Blossom DSP, both of which are in the Summer Mini. I've used all Ruby Red, black and white for this page. The stamped images are mostly embossed to give them some shine, which you can probably see better if you click on the image to enlarge it.

To get the Ruby Red flower embellishment, I simply coloured in a white flower from the Pretties Kit with my Ruby Red marker - so easy! And obviously my punches, especially the scallop ones, got a good workout for the page.

Birthday Happiness

This is a birthday card for a friend - can you guess what her favourite colour might be? I really wanted the red to be the focus, so I thought I'd partner it just with black and white.

I've used the swirl from Baroque Motifs for the black background, and it's been stamped with white and embossed with white powder, so that it's shiny and raised. This also gives the card some texture! The word "Happiness" is from the Happiness background stamp - I've just used one strip of the stamped image. It's a pretty versatile background stamp - you can either use it all together, or just ink up one part of it with your markers, or stamp the whole thing then cut out the strip you want.

The flowers and pearls are from the Pretties kit - obviously I've dyed the main one red to match the rest of the card.

Spring Mini Scrapbooking

I've really been enjoying my scrapbooking lately, and I've been using various sketches to make designing some layouts even faster. I also find that colours and patterns come together pretty quickly when I'm using coordinating products.

This page uses a few coordinating products from the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini Catalogue. I haven't used any patterned paper on this layout, but have stamped the patterned squares with images from the "A Beautiful Thing" stamp set, and the matching "It's Beautiful" wheel. I've then added some extra dimension with some images from the "Eastern Elegance" rub-ons, which also coordinate with the stamp set. Too easy!

The title was made using our "Lots of Letters" chipboard, which I've sponged with Pink Passion ink then glittered. The "e" letter has been coated with Crystal Effects to give it that shiny, epoxy look. The colours I've used are Soft Sky, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and So Saffron. Some buttons and some flowers from the Pretties kit, dyed to match the other colours, complete the layout!

Cinderella

I'm not sure if you know the song Cinderella by Steve Curtis Chapman, but that song was the inspiration for this scrapbooking page. It's a lovely song about how quickly children grow up, and how we should make time to dance and play with them while we can. It always makes me cry when I hear it!

The other thing I wanted to try with this layout was a hat pin from the Stampin' Up! Pretties kit. I used a couple of beads on the hat pin and threaded it through some Taffeta ribbon. I also used two flowers from the Pretties kit, one of which I dyed with Regal Rose ink. So easy to do!

The title was done using the Defining Alphabet, with some sparkly Dazzling Diamonds added. Although it's a bit tricky to see from the pictures, I used textured River Rock cardstock for the base of the layout, and papers from the Berry Bliss paper range. The other part of the layout that is hard to see is the So Swirly wheel stamped in white along the bottom of the cardstock. I think the colours and textures of the layout work well with the dancing photos of my 3 year old Cinderella!
