Christmas in July

Despite the fact that the Calender on the left has been saying "No upcoming events" for a while now, that's not actually true! There are lots of things coming up - I just need to get around to entering them in the Calender!

This Thursday, July 17th at 7:30pm is my first Christmas Card stamping session for the year - Christmas in July. I know it seems early to start Christmas cards, but if you want to make a lot, then 10 a month from now is a good way to do it.

At the class on Thursday you'll make 10 cards, 5 each of two different designs. The card on the left uses the 'Emboss Resist' technique, so you'll also learn how to do that if you're not already an expert!

The class cost is $20. Please let me know ASAP if you'd like me to reserve you a spot!

Origami Box

I know I've posted about these Origami Boxes before, but I made another one yesterday and was reminded just how easy they are. I was also impressed by how good this looks made with the Holiday Thyme patterned paper. There's actually no stamping on the box, I just followed the instructions shown on Kristina Werner's blog here and it was so simple. The box is filled with some yummy White Chocolate and Macadamia fudge as a Christmas thank you to my daughter's music teacher.

We also made a Christmas card to fit inside the box, using Hung Up on the Holidays, Peaceful Wishes and Warm Words, in Real Red, Bashful Blue and Whisper White.  With added some glitter and ribbon, too! Watercolouring

One of the aspects of Stamping that I like best is watercolouring. I especially like the effect that you can get with Stampin' Up!'s watercolour paper. For this card, I've stamped the City of David image on watercolour paper with StazOn, then coloured it with an Aqua Painter and my Stampin' Write markers in the Earth Elements colours. The colours blend so nicely on the watercolour paper!

The card stock colours I've used here are Pumpkin Pie, with Really Rust and Not Quite Navy for the matting. I used the French Flair background stamp on the background card (That stamp is from the Summer Mini catalogue - ask me if you'd like to see a catalogue!) and inked the "Peaceful" part of the Peaceful Wishes stamp with my Not Quite Navy marker. The markers are great if you just want to stamp part of an image - you can just colour in the part of the stamp that you want! A little bit of cream organdy ribbon finished it off. Hope you like it. My First Post!

So I'm still not sure how the whole Blog thing works yet, but it seems like fun so I'm trying it! This Blog is mainly about Papercrafts, particularly Stampin' Up! as I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. So, for my first post I thought I'd share the cards that we'll be making at my upcoming October Christmas card class. The first class uses the sets "Hung up on the Holidays" and "Peaceful Wishes", and the second uses a variety of different SU! sets, punched out with the 1 1/4" square punch to give a mosaic effect.

The class is on Friday, 19th October, 7:30pm at my place in Turramurra, Sydney. It costs $15 to make 10 cards, 5 of each. Please email me if you're interested in more information!
