A very Aussie Christmas

The stamp set "Happy Christmas, Mate" always makes me have a bit of a chuckle! I made this card for some American friends who have spent some time living in Australia, so hopefully they'll know by now just how often we see kangaroos, espcially kangaroos with their pouches full of Christmas presents!

I watercoloured this image on Confetti White cardstock. It's heavier than Whisper White so takes a bit more water, which I find gives a better effect for the colouring.

Supplies Used:

Stamps: Happy Christmas, Mate; Merry Merry.

Cardstock: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky, Confetti White.

Inks: StazOn, Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky

Accessories: Aquapainter, Wasabi ribbon, circle punches, scallop edge punch. 

Card or Scrapbook page?

A friend of mine spotted this 6 x 6 scrapbook page in the Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue. She really liked it so wanted to try it out, but as a card! So we did...

Obviously it needs a photo added to it still, but it's a great way of sending a handmade card that also doubles as a scrapbook page. You could even put it into a 6 x 6 album after Christmas.

We also have envelopes in the Summer Mini Catalogue which come with the Carousel Notes, that fit this size card/ page. So, why not try it for yourself? Any of your favourite 6 x 6 layouts can easily be adapted to make a fabulous Christmas card, complete with photo.

Christmas Projects

I was sure that I wrote a post about this a couple of days ago, but it seems to have disappeared into the ether... I'm sure it's out there on the Web somehow, but I don't know how to look for it!

On December 12th at 7:30pm I'm running a Christmas projects class. At the class we'll be making a mini pizza box and a Christmas Cracker, decorating a tin and stamping on a candle.

I have so many ideas for different Christmas projects at the moment. Card ideas, gift ideas and decorating ideas. I'll be sharing lots of them with you over the next few days, so be sure to check back!

Dashing hostess gifts!

I've had fun making some more double pocket bags, this time with the "Dashing" paper. This one was a gift for a friend who had a Christmas Card class at her house recently. I filled it with a selection of the Stampin' Up! pretties and some yummy choccies. These would be so easy to make as Christmas Gifts!

The tag is made using the Celebrate Everyday set from the Spring Mini catalogue. The really important thing about this set is that it's only available until the end of November, (that's just 10 more days!) because that's when the Spring Mini ends. Christmas Projects

Tonight is the first of my Christmas Projects class, which I'm looking forward to! Making 3D items is something I really enjoy doing, so I thought I'd show you a picture of what we're making.

There's a double-pocket bag, a CD gift box (based on Makeesha Byl 's  example), a triangle box and a photo wallet. All the projects use papers and colours based on the Holiday Harmony range of Designer Series papers, which can be found in the Spring Mini Catalogue.It should be a fun class!

Resist stamping!

This triangle box is one of 4 projects that we'll be making at my upcoming Christmas Projects class on November 6th. It's a bit hard to see, but the box is actually very shiny, because it's been stamped using the emboss resist technique. "The what?" I hear you ask... and so, a quick tutorial about emboss resist.

The box is made from glossy white cardstock. The snowflakes are stamped on using Versamark, then embossed with white embossing powder. After that, I've used my brayer to apply Pomegranate ink across the whole piece of card. The white images resist the ink, but the rest of the glossy card is nicely covered, but remains glossy!
