Workshop Cards

Here are a few different cards that we've made at workshops recently. If you'd like to get together with a few friends and learn how to make cards like these, then you should host a workshop of your own. Summer's in the air...

The Summer Picnic range of papers have quickly become my favourites from the Spring Mini Catalogue. Recently a friend's daughter had a Stampin' Up! party for her birthday, and I used these papers as the basis for the projects we made. Each girl made the box which is pictured, and a scrapbook page, which was then bound into an album for the birthday girl, with space for her to add photos from her party!

I also used the "It's Beautiful" wheel on the box as a quick and easy way to create a pattern on my plain piece of Old Olive cardstock. Unfortunately, this wheel and the Summer Picnic papers will not be available after tomorrow, so please let me know if you'd like to grab them for yourself before they're gone!

Note Box

I can't believe how long it is since I've posted here... Sorry! I have been creating lots of different things, but just not having time to upload them, so I promise to show lots of projects over the next couple of weeks to make up for my recent silence. Apologies over, now on to today's project!

At the Stampin' Up! convention in April (which was fantastic!) one of the presenters talked about making this little box for "Love Notes", which are a 3" x 3" size little card. We made a couple of notes at Convention using the Fun and Fast Notes set, and I thought that making up a set of them would be a nice Hostess gift for some of my hostesses this month.

I made up the box in Groovy Guava, and stamped it with a stamp and wheel from the Spring Solitude Set. All the cards and the box are made with a combination of Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Rose Red and Chocolate Chip, so it was easy to choose the colours to use for the box. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain, and the butterfly is from the Garden Whimsy set. It was embossed to give it a bit of shine, then it was punched out with the scallop circle punch - too easy. Garden Whimsy

This stamp set is called "Garden Whimsy", and it's one of my favourites from the new Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalogue. I've used the butterfly image and stamped it in Rose Red then added some glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to highlight its wings. The little bugs across the bottom are Old Olive, to match the cardstock. I used the Polka Dots and Petals set on the Pumpkin Pie card, then mounted that onto So Saffron, which was highlighted with some fake stitching.

The inspiration for the colours came from the front of the new Catalogue - it's probably not a combination I would have thought of, but I liked how they used it!

Of course, when I was trying to take the photo, my cat thought that she should be the focus, not the card, as you can see from the second picture!
