Sweet Faces

I started this layout with an idea from Alana's blog. She had used an 8x 8 page from the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration catalogue as the basis of her 12 x 12 layout, so I decided to try the same thing.

There was a lot of journalling that I wanted to fit onto the layout, so I typed this up so that I had more control over its size (and because my handwriting's not great, anyway!) I've used the SAB set "Friendship Blooms", which you can get free if you spend $100, for the flowers and to create the piece of white background paper that is mounted behind the journalling. The heading is done with the Big Deal Alphabet, and I cut the 18 from the numbers on a sheet of the Treehouse designer series paper. The colours of the layout are Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue.

It's Fun to be a Demonstrator!

There's lots of reasons I love being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and one of them is because it's really fun to get together with other demonstrators. A few of the members of the team I'm part of got together online on Friday night for a Cyberstamp - we were set challenges by my upline, Jayne, and had to create some cards based on the challenges.

For this card we had to follow a particular sketch from Splitcoast Stampers. I chose to use the colours Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue. The paper is from the Au Chocolat designer series paper which can be found in the Summer Mini Catalogue. The stamp sets are both Sale-A-Bration sets; Friendship Blooms and Lots of Thoughts - both sets which I'm using a lot! Lots of Thoughts fits really well with the Stampin' Up! square punches, or the Word Window punch to just use part of the greeting.

Friendship Blooms

I'm really liking my "Friendship Blooms" stamp set. To make this card, I stamped the outline flower image with Chocolate Chip ink, then masked the big flowers while I stamped the background flourish and flowers in Pale Plum, Cool Caribbean and Barely Banana. I used some Certainly Celery for the leaves, so this is mostly a "Soft Subtles" colour family card! The flowers are coloured in using the Stampin' Pastels and a sponge dauber, which is a really quick and effective way of colouring. I like the feel of using the chalks to colour as they're so soft.

I punched out the "Happy" using the circle punches, and added some fake stitching as a final effect. Friendship Blooms is one of the stamp sets that you can earn free during Sale-A-Bration in January and February.
