Snow Flurries Scrapbooking

I realise that this looks very similar to my last project, but I decided that the colours and style I used in my City of David card would also work for this scrapbook page. I've had these photos waiting in my pile to be scrapped for ages now. They were taken down at Perisher last year, and even though there wasn't heaps of snow, we had a great holiday!

The colours used are Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. Obviously I've used the Snow Flurries stamp set, but also the Best Friends and Big Deal alphabet sets. The 3/4 circle punch got a work out, too. I've stamped some snowflakes, embossed them, then punched them out to make the scalloped style edge on the left of the photos. Some of the flakes are stamped in white on vellum, to give a translucent effect. I had to use some Dazzling Diamonds on these, too.

I also used my heat and stick powder to add glitter to the title, which you can see better in the detail photo. A couple of pieces of Hodgepodge Hardware to embellish it, and it was finished. Now I just need to scrap the snowball fight photos for the opposite page of the layout! If you'd like some more Scrapbooking ideas, please let me know. City of David

Blue and brown is one of my favourite colour combinations. This is one of the cards that we'll be making at my next Christmas Card class, on Thursday 15th November. This card uses the Snow Flurries and City of David stamp sets, with the "Noel" from Many Merry Messages. I like the way the colours work - they're Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Close to Cocoa. I've watercoloured the Mary & Joseph image using the Stampin' Write markers, and used some brads, ivory ribbon and Stampin' Dimensionals to make the Noel greeting stand out.

The class on November 15th is at my place in Turramurra, at 7:30pm. We'll make 10 cards altogether. If you'd like to book in, please send me an email at mail@elisabethstewart.com. Same but different!

My task for today was to make some cards for a couple of 3 year old boy's birthdays that are coming up. I used Wild About You as my main stamp set, and using the same colours and stamps, came up with 2 different cards. Both use punches, too. On the left hand card I've used the square punch and double rectangle punch to get the "film strip" look, and on the right hand card I've used the circle punch for the windows.

The colours are mostly Bold Brights - Real Red, Brilliant Blue, Glorious Green, Tempting Turquoise and Lovely Lilac, with Marigold Morning thrown in for the yellow! Which card do you like best? Leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Birthday Beauty

Sometimes I get a mental blank when it comes to colour choice. I look at all my different colours of card, and can't decide what goes together, or what will look good, or how many colours are too many. Such was the case when I was making this card! So, I turned to the Stampin' Up! Colour Wheel, and it did the work for me! I decided I wanted to use Regal Rose to watercolour the girl's dress, so I looked up Regal Rose on the wheel and it directed me to Almost Amethyst and Apricot Appeal as coordinating colours for Regal Rose. I don't think I've ever used Apricot Appeal before, so I was dubious, but I like how the combination turned out!

The stamps are from the Birthday Beauty stamp set, and I've stamped it onto Watercolour paper then watercoloured with inks and Soft Subtles markers. The Regal Rose strip and Amethyst background have been stamped with the Linen background stamp to give the card a textured look. I've also added some Dazzling Diamonds to the girl's dress, as every beauty queen needs bling!

Pirate Felicity!

Who said that pirate stamp sets had to be for boys only? This page shows my daughter, Felicity, at her friend Benny's 3rd birthday party. She had great fun dressing up as a pirate and playing piratey games. To create this page I've used Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Very Vanilla, Real Red and Close to Cocoa cardstock. I've also used the "Ahoy, Matey" and "Matey's Map" stamp sets, which I've watercoloured with the WaterColour Wonder crayons, which is really fun. 

For the heading I used "Big Deal" alphabet, which is my current favourite alphabet. It's great that when you create a heading for a scrapbook page with stamps, you never run out of letter "e"s, which I've done plenty of times in the past! I've used the White Gel Pen to give the heading a stitched look, and Stampin' Dimensionals to make it stand out from the page.

Spring is in the Air

One of the things I love most about Stampin' Up! is how well all the products co-ordinate together. I've been having fun playing with my Looks Like Spring stamp set, which is a great example of this. I've used the set for scrpabooking, made a couple of cards with it and made this great little origami box with the stamp set, the Spring Bouquet Flower punch and the matching Spring Flowers designer series paper. Making the box was part of a challenge set by my Stampin' Up! upline, Jayne. We followed the directions for how to make the box from Kristina Werner's blog. Thanks Kristina for sharing the idea! The Spring is in the Air October special uses all these products. When I use the Designer Series paper it's really easy to choose cardstock colours to match, as the papers use Mellow Moss, Barely Banana, Cameo Coral and Chocolate Chip. Cards for Ronald McDonald House

We had a fantastic time last night. As it was World Card Making Day, a few of us got together to make some cards for Ronald McDonald House. The 5 of us completed 80 cards, as pictured above. A huge thank you to Kim, Jodie, Julie and Eunice for giving their time and money to make the cards - sorry about the diamond background stamp!

One card was aimed at kids, and one at adults. The penguin card uses "Wild About You" and "Be Happy", and is done in Tempting Turqouise and Pixie Pink - we were aiming for bright and happy! The floral card uses the "Looks Like Spring" stamp set, with Marigold Morning, Old Olive and Cranberry Crisp cards and inks. We punched out the little flower centres with the Spring Boquet flower punch.

Spring Scrapbooking

I created this page for Felicity's album last night, using the "Looks Like Spring" stamp set and matching Designer Series Paper, and the Spring Flower punch. The colours I've used are Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, Chocolate Chip and Cameo Coral, and it's based on Very Vanilla cardstock. I've added glitter to the big flowers using Heat and Stick Powder and Dazzling Diamonds. (Just ask me if you want to know how to do that!) I'm pretty happy with the page, but I think I need to add a title under the photos. I couldn't think of one - any suggestions?
